How retailers Passed the Love On for Mother’s Day
This Mother’s Day, we continued to ‘Pass the Love On’ to our retailer community, offering five lucky retailers the chance to win a spa hamper and a box of Thorntons Continental chocolates to gift the mother figure in their lives. Part of our Thorntons above the line campaign, which launched last year, we hosted the competition on our trade website, Your Perfect Store, inviting retailers to tell us why – in no more than 50 words – they deserved to win. One retailer also received a £400 spa voucher.
“I nominate Mrs Manjit Kaur Brayna for being so strong, dignified and an inspiration when she stood by her husband during his battle with cancer. Losing her partner at the age of 38 was devastating, but her strength was awe inspiring as she continued,” Chaz Chahal, Simply Fresh, Inkberrow.
“My wife is the best of both worlds. She's an alpha: strong and independent. Yet, she's also affectionate and has a heart of gold. She's selfless, loving and has always put everyone's needs in front of her own. She has the mind of a queen and the heart,” Raj Aggarwal, Spar Wigston.
“My nomination is my sister Bejal. She is not only a mother to three rowdy little boys, but also an integral part of our business, ready and willing to fill any role at a moment’s notice be that a merchandiser, delivery driver or chef!” Kay Patel, Global Food and Wine, London.
“My mum Indira Sodh - she is selfless has dedicated her life to her family and never wavered despite being widowed at the age of 23. She is my true inspiration and I admire her conviction and purity,” Atul Sodha, Londis, London.
“I nominate Liese Bashir for being such an amazing mum and always putting her children first no matter what; suffering herself sometimes, but always looking or wanting to do things for her three children; Ellis, Max & Evie. No is just never an option,” Bay Bashir, Belle Vue Convenience, Middlesbrough.
The winner of the £400 spa voucher was Chaz Chahal, owner of Forge Shop (Simply Fresh) in Inkberrow. He gifted this to his nominee, Mrs Manjit Kaur Brayna, to use with her daughter at the local Bannatyne Spa. Continuing to ‘Pass the Love On’, Chaz Chahal then held a raffle in his store for the spa hamper, with all proceeds raised going to the local church.
Chaz charged £1 per entry and in total raised £140. The money will go towards repairing the church roof.
